Well, the poison ivy rash has now covered my entire right arm, from wrist almost to armpit. There’s a patch right in the bend of my elbow that is really nasty, and hurts like hell. It’s a weepy, oozy mess. I also have patches on my left arm from wrist to elbow, and both legs from ankle to the bottom of my shorts. I’m pretty digusting right now. I had to go out to buy more antibiotic ointment yesterday, and kids were running away from me even more than they usually do.
Needless to say, there’s no gardening happening right now. I did waddle out to the herb bed this afternoon to pick this:
My first little bowl of arugula, which I promptly tossed with some red leaf lettuce, drizzled with my new ranch dressing recipe, and scarfed down for dinner. I’ll be picking a handful or so every day for a while, to weed down the arugula patch a bit. I pretty much just dumped a pack into the dirt, and all the seeds sprouted up in a nice little square patch, very close together. I’m hoping to eat my way down to a managable number of plants, and let them bolt and reseed themselves. I noticed while I was out there that the first cilantro is already bolting, and has flowers on it. I tossed a few seeds in there, as well, so there are little seedlings beneath it. We’ll see if it reseeds itself to keep me in cilantro.
