What is your favorite fruit?
Strawberries. I grew up near strawberry fields in Southern California. We used to drive right up to the little stands at the edges of the fields, and buy flats of fresh strawberries. They’d put the little baskets of strawberries into the flat box, and then dump three extra baskets over the top, so it was just this enormous pile of berries. We made strawberry shortcakes, and my mom would can enough strawberry preserves to last us for the whole year. Every year, when I bite into the first strawberry of the season, I think of my childhood.
What’s your favorite vegetable?
Brussels sprouts. I loved them before they became cool, when it was hard to find fresh ones year ’round. I’m so glad they’re popular now, so I can get them fresh whenever I want them, instead of just in the winter.
What’s your secret guilty food pleasure?
Dark chocolate chunks and raisins, mixed together. My dad was a chocolate covered raisin junkie, so I come by it honestly.
What foods do you hate?
Asparagus. Mushrooms.
What is the last thing you snack on at the end of the day?
I make myself toast with a little bit of Earth Balance, and a little nutritional yeast on it.
