This is the right side of the front yard—proof that gardening is a never-ending job.
This bed was planted first, over a year ago. The rosemary took, and grew like weeds, while the coreopsis died to the ground, and is just now coming back. There’s also a steadily growing gallardia. I tore out one rosemary last week, and moved it to the other side of the front walkway. Today, I moved the coreopsis, too, and planted a smaller rosemary in the place of one, then filled the bed with white cherry sage and white guara. Let’s see how they like it—tomorrow, mulch and rocks will move in. Yeah, that whole pile of rocks at the back…
Here are the two sisters—the original two rosemary bushes that started the garden. These started as little one gallon plants, and have grown nicely. The closer one is in its original place, and the farther one is the transplant. It’s a little shocky right now, but I think it will be OK. The tips droop, which makes it look unhappy.
So, here’s the state of the front yard as of yesterday…
To the right of the front door. Almost finished for this year, except for the occasional watering and weed check.
To the left of the front door. I’m hoping to get the shade bed, and the new rosemary and yellow roses bed done by the end of this month. I’m not sure what I’ll do after that—keep going around the corner, and finish the side yard I tore up last year when I removed all the cannas, or try to get more of the front yard beds put in.
In the doorway, my good little dog, who is staying inside, even though the door is open enough to walk out. He won’t, unless I call him. Good dog!
