At long last, after dozens of male blossoms, my enormous zucchini bushes have started to produce females. I’ve learned from experience that once this happens, the zucchini come faster and faster, so I should cut them while they’re small, and not waste time waiting for them to get much larger than this. Little zucchini are sweet and tender. Big ones get progressively bitter, and more full of seeds.
Here’s today’s harvest: two sweet little zucchini, and a big handful of greens. I’ll have these for dinner tonight.
Now, if all the dozens of green tomatoes would start ripening, I’d be in serious salad heaven…
